Nattyflo goes "Immer Vorwärts"

Finally, Nattyflo comes up with his first longplayer titled "Immer Vorwärts" on Rootdown Music. "Finally", because his Solo-album has been "in the making" for quite some time now: He is considered one of the first artists to do reggae and dancehall with german lyrics, and also one of the first members of the now international 'RIDDIM'-Magazine.

His longplayer starts with a jamaican production: It is the title tune "Immer Vorwärts" where NattyFlo rides the "Praise Jah and Live" Riddim from Sheldon Stewart (Calibud). After this promising beginning we can hear one of the only two features on this album: "Bleib Positiv" with german reggae singer Mellow Mark on the Ganjaman-produced "Too Long" Riddim from Berlin, Germany. Another nice combination is a dancehall tune with his long-time friend and labelmate Nosliw called "Kick", which is a bit of a surprise, because Nattyflo is rather labeled a conscious reggae singer than a dancehall artist. But the bashment vibe also works for him as an artist - "Flex" would be another example of Flo riding a dancehall riddim, also produced by Rootdown in-house producer TeKa.
But there are also the more conscious, Loversrock-inspired songs on this reggae release: "Ich tu was ich lieb" using the "Uptown top Ranking" riddim, which again is up-to-date due to last year's success of Sean Paul's "Still in Love" remake. But one of the stronger and more intense songs on his album is "So vergeht die Zeit", a melancholic reggaetune from Nattyflo, which might be a real personal tune to the lady in his life. All over, the concept of the album seems well-considered, for the most part we find well-produced roots tunes, and it seems that Nattyflo, although this long on the scene in Germany, has improved his style over the years. With this release he adds just another nice german reggae product to the Rootdown Records catalogue. Congrats!
