Headcornerstone
Life worth living - listening to Headcornerstones debut LP that is soon to be released no one can object to the positve vibes that float around the room when you play their music. The band, hailing out of Munich, Bavaria has been playing music together since 2001. Featuring 7 players of instruments as well as male and female vocals, Hearcornerstone provides the listener with a solid performance ranging of very melodical roots orientated music.
The Band is the foundation of Cornerstones (hope to come) succes. Tight rythms, classic organ sounds and a wicked horns section lay the background for the vocals that range from classic roots singing to Macka B style one drop toasting. The songwriting and arangement of the 16 songs (2 dubwise tracks included !!) is top level and you can practically hear the love for reggae music the members of Headcornerstone put into making their music. The female backingvocals do their own part to build the overall sound Headcornerstone provide. The lyrics mostly deal with conscious and spritual topics, never touching the sadly so popluar guns and slackness tunes. Pure Niceness a gwaan , big up ! Several tracks also show that the art of dubbing, belonging to reggae music as much as a fish belongs to the water is not lost today. Great work on the dubwise, nuff respect. Tracks like the Interlude or Gwaan so DUB need to be played 'pon di hifi'. I definitely hope that there will be a vinyl release of this production. It is indeed very nice to hear new artist come to light in Germay, especially from the roots area. With the rising popularity of dancehall and reggae in Germany it is in my opinion very important to show especially to people new to reggae music that there is more than dancehall. Headcornerstone does this job very well.
