In our never ending campaign to deliver you the latest news from Reggae and Dancehall Biz as well as a little Soca and cultural aspect of the music we´re currently recruiting new members for our staff for various positions.
Please note that we cannot pay anything in exchange ´cos we hardly cover the costs, but we will support you in any other way as setting up banners for your biznizz, try to get you into events for free, get you promo releases and much more. Considering our site as a network, we just try to connect people and support each other..
If you´re an ambitious and gifted person either in graphic design, flash animation, writing, coding or if you think you could contribute in any other way, please read on how to apply for the job and which requirements are to meet.

Rest assured that we received all your applications and are currently reviewing them. After a short time we´ll get back to you with more info. Watch this article for updates! Okay, we seem to have caught yer attention - Respect, star! Seems you´re serious about it..

Bad news first: As we (at least) try to keep up a good quality and some sort of Corporate Identity and try to keep every promise we make to our cooperates, you will have to qualify within some kind of trial period. To approve the quality of your work, we´ll have to see at least three examples of any kind of job you´ll want to apply for. Examples: As a record reviewer you should supply at least three reviews of any record, each about 400 characters long at least. You will find detailed info about the requested material within each job description.

Two other things you should know:
a.) It really doesn´t matter where you come from. We´re based in Germany, but this doesn´t mean at the same time that we only need nor only want german news. Our visitors are international and so should be our news. Claat.com Network is meant to connect people as said before and we think of Reggae music as a good point to start with.
b.) You need to be serious. If you promise something - keep it or you´re out within no time. If you´re really serious about your job, you´ll receive full admin priviledges for the section you want to work for. Secondly you may put your work on one of the biggest reggae music sites in your curriculum vitae. If you need a written note to outline the work you´re doing, this would be no problem, too. Any other thing you may need - just ask for it and we take it into consideration and work something out.

Graphic Artist/s / Illustrator/s
Job Description: You should have good knowledge of Corporate Identity Design and be able to supply material that reflects a bit of reggae culture. You should also have a good clue of Web- and Interface Design to consider the producibility of your Designs and supply good Useability through well-structured and easy to use navigations. There are other jobs as well, as someone to create flyers for online broadcasts and other online events that might happen.
In fact we plan a global redesign of the site so you may come up with any good idea. If you apply for the job you´ll receive further information about the concept for the new site.
Trial Description: You will have to show off some of you´re artworks depending on the kind of graphics job you want to apply for that would be flyers, websites, logos.. You should also be able to supply a dedicated design for our site if you want to cover that job. We will not use any design for anything else than this site without prior permission, promised.
Job Advantages: If any clients asks for banner rotations or anything else where graphical talent may be needed, you may be the first one to be asked and receive payment for. If you create the overall new design, your name, contact and copyright will be included within the footer included on all pages. In any other way, you will be mentioned as the author within the pictures full description, if available.

Webdesigner/s
Job Description: Good knowledge of XHTML and CSS and a bit of Javascript know-how needed. The next version will be fully xhtml compliant and follow " Web Content Accessibility Guidelines". Several alternate stylesheet are to be considered this purpose.
Trial Description: Either come up with some references that match the job´s description or we´ll supply a layout that would have to be realised in xhtml and css and follow the accessibility guidelines.
Job Advantages: As we´re specialists with that job but need helping hands, you´ll probably be able to learn lots! Otherwise: Simply a good reference for your commercial work. You may include comments into the code to prove your work. You´ll be mentioned on the " Impressum" pages. Setting up banners for your site is an option too.

PHP / MySQL Coder
Job Description: Claat.com is based on a more or less heavily modified version of the ezpublish content management system 2.2.x. As this system being class-based and object-oriented you should have good knowledge of that type of coding. Assistance is at hand, as we got a pretty good clue about ezpublish, but simply lack time to include some larger mods, but can help setting up programming plans, improve and test the application you will be building up.
Trial Description: We´ll have to work something out, depending on what you want to do. But serious, this is a job that demands absolute trust in you personally as you will probably achieve full access to the system after trial.
Job Advantages: If there is any job we cannot fulfill we just may ask you. For sure, you´ll receive payment for any commercial job. Feel free to redistribute your code or use it for any other project. ezPublish is published under the GPL-License, so everything is Open Source anyway. Additionally, your name will be mentioned on the " Impressum"-pages in context of the various mods you will supply and add to the site.

Flash Artist/s / Animation Specialist/s
Job Description: We got quite some ideas and material for very exclusive material. This would range from animated headlines over screensavers to game design. Please note that we prefer flashers with a certain originality that feel able to solve problems, even if those may seem very unconventional.
Trial Description: You have to be able to show up matching references for the job you´re applying for - game, animation or whatever.
Job Advantages: As we feel we can generate some very exclusive material together, we also feel that there are great ways of promoting that stuff. Feel free to include copyright line and link where it´s adequate in your artwork.

Interviewer/s / Photographer/s
Job Description: Good knowledge about reggae and artists needed. You should be able to speak and understand English/Patois language fluently to catch up with your interview partners. Access to certain equipment (DAT/MD or else and microphone) would certainly be helpful. You need to be well prepared for the interviews and have a written catalogue with questions and background information. We can try to help you work out some template for such stuff and investigate background information on special artists when the time comes. Some template-able stuff is already available as well as loads of background info.
Trial Description: Well, questionable if you can already supply any interviews, can you?! If so - nice! If not we need to re-assure that you at least got good writing skills by sending in some of your articles of any other kind.
Job Advantages: Free entry to Backstage or else to interview the artist/s. Getting to know nice people and reggae legends, hang around with them, accompany them for a certain time.. Your name or alias will be included within each article you write. Feel free to use these as references for your career.

Record/Riddim Reviewer/s
Job Description: There´s so many releases worldwide that should get a little more attention and honest rating. Especially releases from abroad Jamaica deserve a certain interest to unite the worldwide reggae community. No matter if new or old gold - every record or riddim deserves a fair-minded review. You should be able to write short and informative and use good comparisons/references to known masterpieces. A very good knowledge of reggae music from new to old would be helpful. You should also be able to communicate your disfavor over a certain record or riddim kinda "diplomatic" and point out the reasons and not just rant about it. Knowledge on copy-writing headlines would also be desireable.
Trial Description: Three short reviews, each about 400 characters at least are needed to pass the trial phase.
Job Advantages: You may receive free Promo material to review. Your name or alias will be included within each article you write. Feel free to use these as references for your career.

Event Reviewer/s / Photographers
Job Description: The job we like to call "embedded reporters". If there´s any event of somehow national or international interest in your area, let us know and we´ll do everything to get you in for free by officially contacting the promoter and telling them that you belong to our team. (In exchange, the receive free promotion so this worked out most of the time so far.) In fact, you´d also have to find out contact adresses and or make first contact and just let us approve our affiliation officially.
Trial Description: Depending on what you want to do you should be able to supply at least three (short) reviews and/or a couple of quality photos you have taken.
Job Advantages: Free entry to many events (not guaranteed though) with special priviledges to access backstage area or stage (also not guaranteed though). Hanging around with artists and such. Your name or alias will be included within each article/photo you write. Feel free to use these as references for your career. Highquality Pictures may be sold for reprint with you receiving payments for it.

Editor/s
Job Description: Well, there is so much interesting background info about reggae.. Whatever it is, if you feel you could write something interesting and well investigated, are able to underpin your article with facts and "read on"´s, then you´re just the right person. A certain individual and appropriate style of writing would be desireable. Knowledge on copy-writing headlines would also be desireable. If you want to put your hands on controversial topics - you´re good to go. We do not censor anything. (At least until now.) We just do not accept any racist contributions as we do not want to split but rather unite the users of our community, seen?
Trial Description: Please supply some written articles to review. Please also submit some ideas about what you would like to write.
Job Advantages: Re-print or release on other websites can be taken into consideration but should be discussed first. If you write interesting material, be sure that your articles will be linked from all over the web. Your name or alias will be included within each article you write. Feel free to use these as references for you career.

Helping Hand/s
Job Description: There is still so much in our archives that needs adding or regular attention. Such things would be regular adding of new events, we still have more than 1.000 lyrics in our archives that need adding, biographies to add, videos and clashes to convert and so much more. Just name any thing you think you could be helpful with and feel dedicated enuff for..
Just think about this example: If you want to take the job to add lyrics, which is an easy copy-and-paste job there are still some guidelines to follow to keep a certain standard. An average lyric takes about 5-10 mins to rework and publish. It wouldn´t be very helpful if you just feel able to submit another 3 lyrics per week, know what i mean?
Trial Description: Totally depending on the job you want to apply for, there are just too many possibilities..
