Exactly five years after his first release and a whole load of features, samplers and even an own EP Nosliw finally released his first own 16-track album "Mittendrin" on his label Rootdown Records. The album got postponed twice during this summer, but finally we had the chance to lend it an ear.

Artist: Nosliw
Title: Mittendrin

Rating: [XXXXXXXXXX]

Through hard work over the past years Nosliw for sure represents one of the leading german speaking reggae artists of today. He´s is also one of the artists with the most releases, taking more than 20 into his account already. His recent 7" "Wie weit" already received a high rating in one of our latest reviews, his current musicvideo for that song is running up and down VIVA and MTV Germany and currently supporting german artist Gentleman on his tour.

So expectations for the album were high and to cut it short - our expectations have been exceeded. With "Mittendrin" Nosliw presents a solid album that swims a good bit above the rest of the german-speaking reggae artists. Some tunes could be a bit more interesting and some rhymes could be a bit smarter but still - it outranks most of his collegues. Nosliw never tries to be some deep reggae teacher, but adresses common daily german and international problems in his lyrics. Most of the tunes on his album are custom made riddims covering the whole facette from HipHop to Soul and Blues influences.
