German Riddim-Magazine just released their "Riddim Soundclash 2004 - The Big Showdown" DVD some days ago. This DVD for sure represens a new technical status-quo and a nice overview about the german dancehall-scene etc. so make sure you do not miss it in your collection at all!

First of all: It seems that germany seems to define a certain standard now as soon as the scene seem to have grown up, a thing that was pretty predictable somehow. This means: The DVD features chapter- and sub-chapter-selection for each round, Dolby Surround 2.0 Sound and 4 independant cameras that manage to catch every important aspect of the whole clash. Not only that - all cuts and scene-changes are done in a professional way, itīs not that you just get simple cuts - but full introductions of each sound, soft blends and numerous effects to mix various views of the whole ting in a very pleasant way.
The negative aspects may be: No extras (interviews or backstage-impressions would have been nice) and some parts of the whole ting may seem a bit dark.

The soundclash itself goes over all four rounds featuring Supersonic (GER), One Love Hi Pawa (IT), Ricky Trooper (JA) and Freddie Krueger (JA) in full length without any cencorship or anything at all. For sure it reflects some kinda neutral aspect about the clash that was already well-diputed. Whatever, this DVD is heavily recommended as a status quo of todays clash-scene within germany.
