Yes, it´s only a few days til Xmas and short before Years change. We at Cla.at had a hard year 2003, so we´re really looking forward to the next, hoping that all worries we had over the past time will cool down a little, giving us more time to do what we really want: Give you even MORE news, music, live broadcasts and more stuff we already had in preparation for 2k3, but somehow lost sight of for the one or other reason.
But hey, Xmas is the time for some presents and some vague New Year´s resolutions.. Read on to find out what we got for you!
Christmas inna Caribbean
Well, first thing you should take notice of is our brandnew
Lyrics Database, featuring already more than 500 Lyrics from ´bout 100 artistes! What first started as a mirror of
Raddy´s Site is now going more than one step further with some of you already
contributing lyrics of their fav artists! Raddy still has a huge amount archived and so do I. So check one of the biggest Reggaelyric-Archives (Actually ranking #2 as far as we know) here on this site for your favourite tune to sing along!
Second, we already have a huge collection of clashes and other musical downloads available in our
Reggae Music-Archive with more than one Gigabyte (1GB!) of
free music to download for all registered users.
Over the past time we assembled a good amount of classic and contemporary Clashes and Bashes all you Soundsystem Coinnaisseurs will enjoy FI SURE.
Up third is the vague promise for 2004: The Riddim Database! We been planning that thingie for long time now. It all started with the supreme Riddim-Knowledge of our own Staffs main riddim man - "Raddy" himself and the old
riddim-board on the old site. This was for sure a nice thing as a start but didn´t work out as what we expected. So, a custom-made solution is currently in preparation and just has to be seamlessly integrated in our contentmanagement-system once finished and tested. It already looks really promising but still needs lots of attention before really being finished. Stay tuned for more about this..
Fourth a general promise we´re mos´def about to keep as we brought this ting to a totally new level in 2003 already and definitely won´t let the pressure down:
Live Internet Broadcasts from interesting Bashments and Clashes of international interest!
Once again: In cooperation with
Rastamusic.com we definitely run di biggest
24/7 Reggae/Dancehall/Soca Streaming Cluster on the Web with more than 2000 slots to fill in 80kbps MP3-quality! (Depending on the connection bandwidth when broadcasting live from Events..)
If you ever feel that there is still something that could be improved on this site or have interesting cooperations to offer: feel called upon to
write down whatever is on your mind using our contact form.
... last but not least I wanna address some people personally for giving great support, being great mental help or just having been there automagically when there was the need for you in one way or the other. These are in no special order...
- The folks that run this site behind the scenes an without whom this would just be my project solely and therefore not worth 10% of what it is now due to their extreme efforts and/or knowledge: Raddy (Lyrics/Riddims), Killaswitch (Interviews/Reviews), Highgrade (Streams), Hille (Streams), Crip (Botmaster in our Chatchannel #Claat on Efnet) and our newest embedded reporter: Bassmann, putting together all the latest Chit-Chat and news from sites all over the world.
- Streamguys.com for their extraordinary support and belief in us! Big up, Kiriki & Frank!
- All labels, sounds, clubs and magz that supported us with promo material and other stuff. Special shoutz in this section go out to Contour Promotions; Elmar from Sentinel Sound; RaggaGum Sound; Bandulero Sound; Munichrocks; U-Club (Wuppertal); Germaican Records; Rootdown Records; Sony Music; Four Records; R-evolution Mag; Ellen Köhlings, Pete Lilly & Gerd Gummersbach from Riddim Mag and countless others who sent in promomaterial or offered other ways to cooperate
- A very special "SORRY!" goes out to Soundquake Records. Some things didn't work out the way they were supposed to. We're still trying to improve things. This is far from being what someone would maybe call "professional"..
- Sista, _bambam, SlimKD, Bandulu, BunFijah, _bo_, tumor, stigi, TA, [tibo], marieel, Pinkey and countless others who made Channel #claat on EfNet what it was in 2003 - Funny, pretty informative and a good working community..
- All registered users and regular readers for their support, input and strong believe in us! Madd Respect and Log On in 2004 again!
Please don't take it personally if you feel you should have been on the above list but couldn't find yourself: You're not alone - as none of us are.
Blessings and a peaceful new year,
phanthomas
